Critic reviews
- Pitchfork: 8.8/10(opens in new tab)by Madison BloomSep 25, 2026
The album fuses noise-punk, post-punk, no wave, industrial, and techno influences into a distinctive dance-oriented sound.
- The Quietus: enthusiastic(opens in new tab)by Robert BarrySep 30, 2026
The most punishing record Gilla Band have made was driven by Kiely reaching for tenderness, painting over a ruined photograph
- PopMatters: 8/10(opens in new tab)by John AmenSep 30, 2026
With Pugnello, Gilla Band emerge as spokespersons for our age of solipsism, dissecting and lampooning these proclivities
- Beats Per Minute: 92/100(opens in new tab)by John WohlmacherSep 25, 2026
Pugnello sounds like a disjointed techno club night, but also retains the air of a modern art piece that only exists as static unit.
- The Guardian: 5/5(opens in new tab)by Alexis PetridisSep 24, 2026
The sound is defined by grinding drones, distorted bass, noise eruptions and glitch-like electronic textures.
