Hard Life blends jangling indie rock, folk-rock textures, and sturdy power-pop rhythms with bright hooks, violin, and agile guitars. Its energetic, often exuberant music offsets lyrics about grief, mental strain, rejection, and self-loathing, while vivid vocals and black humor provide personality despite familiar structures and occasional overdone effects.
